Meet Griffin!

Just to set things straight, adopting a dog was not a spontaneous decision. Deciding to care for an animal, any animal, is a big decision. Especially for a 21 year old. However, I like to think that I am not the stereotypical 21 year old. I have a full-time job, pay all my own bills (except my cell phone and health insurance – THANKS MOM AND DAD!), and have been called a 40-year-old in a 21-year-olds body often enough to have started embracing it as a compliment.

So, when my team at work started talking about getting an office dog, i took it pretty seriously. First, I asked for my roommate’s blessing, she was so in. Then I called my landlord and after that I called my parents. While I don’t live with my parents, I respect their opinion…I might also have to call on them for doggy-sitting when I have to travel so having their support is pretty important 🙂

When I had all of those bases covered I visited Animal Haven (http://www.animalhavenshelter.org/), a wonderful dog shelter in NYC and one of the few shelters on the island of Manhattan with a physical location (as opposed to a foster network), and met Griffin! Formerly named Scrappy, Griffin is a 2-year-old terrier mix with a love of cuddling and peanut butter. He was relinquished by his previous owner, supposedly due to eviction, and I am so happy that I was able to scoop him up!

I am sure that there will be lots of Griffin updates on her over the next few months but for now – CHECK OUT THIS CUTENESS!!!!
