Hi Pippa…. I am a husband and dad of daughters…. I have taken my family to an overseas post for a year to develop a medical helicopter service and I definitely agree with you that it is important to really think about the project that you are taking abroad to “help” the people who live there. However, the mere experience of being in another part of the world has had profound value to my family and myself in growing our understanding of the world and in making life long meaningful relationships with folks from a different world view. But, definitely, the nuance of going to a country to “save” the people without having viable resources or understanding to offer is ((save for the exchange value)) a waste of time and resources for everyone.
Thank you for this well articulated article.

So many critics making judgments about your choices of words and honest thoughts you have shared. It is your blog, your thoughts, and your words. Your thoughts and your words can’t be wrong when you are sharing your feelings.
